Sunday, January 27, 2013

I'm all done listing for now...just in time for a BLIZZARD to start here in WI. Nothing says 'hurry up spring' like having to go out and shovel. Use coupon code: hurryupspring for 10% off in my shop. Good until the end of January...which, crazily enough, is coming soon. All the spring beads below can be found in my shop!

Spring Preview

Saturday, January 26, 2013

I had to snap a few phone photos of new spring designs- hot out of the kiln this morning. I've been a bit quiet on the blog lately, but I have been busy...sending out beads to Lima beads, testing out new spring colors, working on spring beads and making a few special beads to submit to the Showcase 1000 Beads book (I will share those as soon as they are finished. I might need some help choosing which to submit!).
Tree top Sets (with birds, leaves, branches, eggs)
 More Tree top sets
New colors (perfect soft pastel hues for spring!)
a sampling of new pendants and buttons (haven't had those in awhile)
Tiny pebble my epoxy in the mail this week and am excited to give these a try. I have a few testers lined up and if they work/ are durable, I am looking to sell them at shows this spring/summer (and in my shop as well).
I will update my facebook page on when this next update will happen- Either Sunday or early next week (1/29)...depends on how soon I can have photos finished and edited!

Studio featured...

Friday, January 11, 2013

Last December I scrambled to get my studio in order (in the midst of my busiest, messiest season) for a local magazine feature on artist home studios. The magazine is now out and the article is quite fun- you can read the short interview here. It feels really weird to have my space on display (cool...but weird).

computer station- packaging supplies
shelving- glaze storage- purple clay table
vintage cabinet- stores everything from keys to sketchbooks- slab roller
washi tape and bakers twine for packaging
jewelry table- jewelry storage- bead and finding storage

new things to come!

Saturday, January 5, 2013

I thought I'd give a quick preview of new things to come in the next weeks/ months...
My shop is looking pretty sad and empty, but I am working hard on new stock to fill it up. The beads are going to come in waves of updates.

Round 1- I am re-stocking Lima Beads (if you shop there and are waiting for owls, etc., they will be re-stocked soon!). Expect some favorites to be hitting my etsy shop as well (owls, keyholes, tiny bird pairs).
I am hoping to sneak in just a few valentines day things- I am not to crazy for the hearts/red/pink....but will have some red 'love' bird beads and some of those groovy little arrow connectors (below) if they turn out!
Also in this load I will have samples of lots of new things to come (my play time- and my absolute favorite part of my job).

Depending on what works out....I am hoping to have updates of new:

Spring-inspired beads:
extra large bird beads
egg beads and charms
spring colored bead sets

Sea-inspired beads:
coral drops
starfish/ shell beads
new rustic ships (still working on the look of these...)

Tribal/ rustic inspired:
rustic rounds
large carved patterned focals
ancient disk beads

and whatever else I can dream up ;)

I will have new wholesale and custom information available in the beginning of February. If you've emailed me, I will contact you as soon as it is ready.
I will be cutting back a bit on wholesale this year, but am hoping to offer "wholesale bundles", like I have in the past, occasionally.

Is there anything you are looking forward to seeing in the next couple updates?? Drop me a line- feedback is always welcome :)

best of 2012

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

2012 was a busy, exciting, adventurous and magical year. Here are some of my favorite memories.

A peek into my studio (it is never this clean!)- Jan 2012- Jan 2013 was my first year as a full-time, self-employed artist. I made it. I learned a lot along the way, managed to pay all my bills and am looking forward to year #2.
DIY kitchen re-model. If you follow me on Instagram (@kylieparry) you get a glimpse into our never ending attempts to fix up our old house on a very tight budget. It felt SO good to check another room off our list. Since, we have gutted our upstairs (which included a 2-3 month period of sleeping in our dining room) and I am happy to say it is almost finished as well!

Trip to Belize and Guatemala.

I got a website!

My little brother, Kelsey, got hitched. The wedding was a blast and I now have a sister :)

Relaxing up north at the cottage- my favorite place. ever.

Art shows. Always a ton of work, but so worth it. And we only got rained on once!

Adventures in Wisconsin. Devils lake state park and Door county.

Fiji. Magical. Once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Visiting family in Charleston, SC.
AND my hoot making it to the cover of Stringing- what an awesome surprise!
December was sooo busy and a complete blur. After my shop settled down and shows were over, we got to enjoy some time with my family. AND my little brother landed his dream job- my heart is so happy for him. He is now the site manager at the same nature center where Luke works.

Thanks so much for joining me here on my blog and best wishes for a joyful 2013. I am hoping to follow up this post with another about new things to come in the new year. HUGE changes are a coming :)
