Lots of new goodies to share with you today and some new glaze combos that I am really excited about!
fresh from the kiln
 rustic beads
 new glaze combo: robins egg
I am loving this new combo! speckled blueberry
 caribbean waters
 starfishes
celestial relics in burnt saffron and speckled blueberry
leaves in burnt saffron and caribbean waters
loops in rust, rustic aqua and caribbean
 shell beads in rustic combos
 tree beads
 tiny sun relics for earrings
 llama charms
 tapir charms
I am waiting for the kiln to cool enough to load my next glaze fire. Some of these will be making their way into my shop (probably not until next week). Some of these will be made into jewelry to sell at my first show coming up in a couple weeks. If you see something you'd like, send me a convo on etsy and I will let you know if it is available!

...and ready for take-off!
Firing #1 tonight, another glaze fire to follow tomorrow- this batch was too big to fit in one load. My kiln is quite large, but this round has soooo many beads. They all need to be fired on wires and posts- which takes up a lot of room. Over 90 large bird beads and over 70 small birds- most being shipped off to Lima Beads (new colors will be available there soon- spring green, rust, denim). Most of this order is for the folks at Lima Beads but I will have some starfishes, rustic beads, celestial relics and (llamas & tapirs!) to hopefully add to my etsy shop. My show season is looming, but I will try my best to not hoard everything for my shows ;)

Heres to hoping the kiln gods watch over my firing tonight! *crossing fingers for a good turn-out*

all non-bead pics were taken this weekend at my folk's cottage in northern WI. Hope you had a great weekend! New beady goodness to follow this week :)

here comes summer...

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

We had a fun-filled weekend with wedding activities (my baby brother is getting married in a month!)- bridal shower, bachelorette party, a day of recovering from the bachelorette party... and on Monday we took the dogs to the beach. We spent the day exploring Point Beach state park on Lake Michigan- it is about as close as we get to the "ocean" in WI.

Bring on summer! On the bead-front, I am now glazing my big Lima bead order. Once that is finished, I will be re-stocking my etsy shop.

long overdue...

I've been putting off creating a website for myself for...years. The thought of a website was overwhelming- a combination of too difficult and too expensive. Then along came a show application that recommends a website in order to get accepted (instead of submitting photos for the jury process, the jurors peruse your website). I didn't get in the last time I applied and am hoping a website will increase my chances. Lorelei recommended this site and it seemed to have many of the features I was looking for- mostly it is fairly cheap and has really customizable templates. I *wish* it had an online shopping feature and for that reason I almost went with indiemade. But, I decided to go with squarespace, and for now just keep my shop on etsy.

Anyway, here it is! After a lot of cussing, emails to the help desk and one night up until 4am-yelp!....
I got it to a point where it is functional. It isn't perfect, but I think if feels 'me' and without knowing code or hiring a designer, it is about as good as it is going to get...for now at least :) Wish me luck on my renegade ap- I am submitting it today! It looks like a crazy-fun show to be a part of.

Feel free to offer suggestions for improvement in the comments below- or if anything is confusing or glitchy. I can always use your help!
I hope all you moms- dog moms and cat moms included- have a great mother's day :)

thinking ahead...

Several people have asked me about my upcoming show schedule and I promise, I will post it soon! I am still waiting to hear my fate regarding one show. I had to do some last minute scrambling when I got a big fat rejection letter to Art Street in Green Bay. I was kind of banking on that since I did well there last summer. Change of plans! It seems crazy, but applications for fall/ winter shows will be available soon... with shows, Luke's work schedule, weddings, trips, other obligations...we don't have a weekend free until...next Christmas. LOL. but, seriously, it will be a busy summer/fall- hopefully with some good new shows thrown it :) I will be changing things up a bit at my summer shows this year! I will be having sort of an À la carte option (buying pendants/ chains separately)- more on that later. I will also be offering more earrings/ bracelets. I've been starting to create stock for the shows now- yay for not waiting until the week before!
I've been showing a few in progress glimpses of this new necklace/ bracelet collection- inspired by my travel photos. Here are a few that are completed. These will be available at my shows as well.
I will be busy creating a big order for Lima beads in the next couple weeks. If you need something not in my shop, send me a convo and I will get it in with that next kiln load.
