The Potter's Shed

Thanks again for all your help and suggestions! I decided against the grout. I did a grouted sample with leftover tiles and wasn't happy with the look. It seemed to "flatten" it, when one of my favorite aspects is the different tile heights. Plus I love the old wood peeking through.

I'm calling it The Potting Shed. I included some pics of my inspiration! Not sure what I'm doing with it yet..I might muster up the courage to enter it in our local museum's member show :) Or I'll keep it!

I need your help!

Ok...here is a project I started over a year ago. I posted about it on May 20, 2010! I finally got around to working on it :) It is a mosaic built into a vintage drawer. The pieces are made, I have them laid out and now I can't decide how to finish. To grout or not to grout?? I have very little experience working with grout and I'm afraid it will "stick" to the matte surface of my tiles. Any words of wisdom? Opinions welcome :)

The good...

Summer favorites fresh from the kiln! I first made these fish pendants when I was in college...I bring back a few every summer.

New rustic beads.

New summery owl colors.

New owl buttons.

New watering can pendant with hand-drawn illustration.

Lots and lots of necklaces being made.

and rings! Summer shows allow me to have some fun and make things I normally don't for my etsy shop.

Finding out new ways to package pendant sets and buttons.

The bad...

Things covering every work surface..magnets on the table.

tea light holders on my slab roller.

Too many necklaces getting all tangled.

The ugly.

We will let this speak for itself :)

pots and peonies

I've been working loooooong days in the studio- working to get ready for my first summer show (just 2 weeks away!). I'm bummed I didn't get in to bead and button this year (still on the waiting list), but to be honest, I don't think I would have been ready. Blessing in disguise? Here are some new things I've been working on! I have been slow to list things in my shop, let me know if you'd like anything.

I picked these small terra cotta pots up at a garage sale a couple weeks ago- I love their rustic, dirty patina. They inspired these little charms. I added a puff of dried moss for some color.
small (11mm)- $14
Large (15mm)- $16

Peonies- $15
Leaves- $14

I made a bunch of these teeny tiny pieces to turn into rings.

Some new summery colors!

These came from firing round 1- more to come!

new to come..
