camping weekend

Friday, May 28, 2010

We spent the last weekend in door county camping! It turned out to be a beautiful weekend. We had an awesome campsite right on the water. Door county is one of my favorite places ever- a blend of shoreline, state parks, orchards, old farms and of course, lots of pottery and antique shops!

new stuff

I still have lots of glazing to finish up today but I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of some new items that came out of the kiln this morning. Now back to work!

treasure hunting

Saturday, May 15, 2010

This weekend was the Clintonville city wide rummage! I went back to my hometown for a visit and found lots of treasures! Including: an old oil can, vintage aqua tool box, wood crates, clip board, vintage dictionary, wooden gray crate, lots of vintage lace, more old chairs for my ever growing collection, big mirror that needs some love and my favorite find- an ancient dolly lift painted in aqua. I got everything for under $30. My dad would say..."you paid 30 dollars for that garbage?!?". To me, they are treasures :)

getting ready...

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Lately I've been thinking about and getting ready for summer art fairs. My first one is about a month away! I made this necklace holder out of 2 old frames that I got at a garage sale. I painted them in white with a distressed/crackle finish. My handy fiance cut and fit the cork in and sealed the back with a piece of thin wood. They are hinged together, so they stand.
I have been working on putting rows of "cup" hooks to hold the necklaces. Eventually there will be two rows of hooks.
I love how it turned out!

Luke also made me a set of cool wood boxes made from old chippy trim that we rescued off the side of the road last summer.
The perfect holder for my herb markers and such!

treasuries!

Check out this awesome treasury that I've been featured in. Some curators have this down to an art! I was lucky enough to have made it to the front page in this beauty!
